Events, F&B keep city hotel alive amid pandemic

EVENTS in Radisson Blu Hotel Cebu have slowly returned although they are not as brisk as they used to be in the pre-pandemic period.

“Events are doing well but not on the scale that they used to be. But it is improving,” said Radisson Blu Hotel Cebu general manager Björn Buth.

Weddings, he said, are still a big market for the hotel. They also get bookings for birthday parties.

But as for business events, Buth said “they are still very rare” and even if there are business events they are hybrid-type, which means participants are divided offline and online.

Buth earlier said they were banking on events and F&B to continue running the hotel business while the industry patiently waits for the resumption of foreign and domestic travel.

“But what we are seeing with consistent response is our brunch, which we are offering once a week every Saturday,” said Buth.

The Saturday brunch, he noted, is now drawing at least 100 people but he quickly added that they can’t just offer it every day; otherwise, they would be making a loss.

“You need at least a hundred people to make it with financial sense,” said Buth, adding that they’ll maintain a wait-and-see stance before they decide to resume their everyday brunch buffet operations.

Father’s day promo, moto expo

Meanwhile, it will be a packed weekend for Radisson Blu Hotel Cebu.

This Sunday, June 20, the hotel is anticipating a good number of diners to celebrate Father’s Day through a brunch banquet.

The chefs of Feria will present eight buffet stations fully packed with from light fares of sushi, cold cuts and salads to the distinct flavors of Indian, Chinese, Mediterranean, Malaysian and Filipino cuisines at P1,188 net per person.

But the hotel is giving a complimentary feast for fathers when they dine together with three full paying companions.

The hotel also announced it is playing host to Moto Expo 2021.

Motology, Triumph Motorcycles Cebu and Harley-Davidson Cebu are set to display their best motorcycles featuring Honda VFR 1200, Bristol Classic 400i Omega, KTM Adventure 1290, Honda Gold Wing, Triumph Trident 660, Triumph Tiger 900, Triumph Bobber 2022, Triumph Rocket 3, Harley-Davidson Pan-America, Can-Am Ryder, and Can-Am Spyder in a threeday show from June 18 to 20, 2021 at the hotel’s grand lobby.
