Babanto, Laxa bag bronze medals in strong finish by PH Poomsae team

CEBUANA jins Rinna Babanto and Aidaine Laxa snagged bronze medals in the ongoing World Taekwondo Asia 2021 Asian Poomsae Championships on June 14 to 18 in Beirut, Lebanon.
Babanto, a former world Poomsae champion, teamed up with Laxa and Jocel Lyn Ninobla to win the bronze medal in the Women’s Team (-30) Recognized Poomsae. She added another bronze with Patrick Perez in the Mixed Pair (-30) Recognized Poomsae.
The Philippines’ Poomsae squad bagged a total of two golds, three silver medals and five bronzes.
Darius Venerable won the gold in the Men’s Individual (+17) Freestyle. Juvenile Faye Crisostomo, Jeordan Dominguez, Jana Dominique Oliva, Marvin Mori and Justin Kobe Macario won the gold medal in Mixed Team (+17) Freestyle.
Oliva won the silver in the Women’s Individual (+17) Freestyle, Crisostomo and Venerable won the silver in the Mixed Pair (+17) Freestyle, while June Ninobla bagged a silver in the Men’s Individual (-60) Recognized Poomsae.
Jocel Lyn added another bronze in the Women’s Individual (-30) Recognized Poomsae, Rodolfo Reyes Jr. won a bronze in the Men’s Individual (-30) Recognized Poomsae, and Reyes Jr., Perez and Joaquin Dominic Tuazon bagged the bronze medal in the Men’s Team (-30) Recognized Poomsae.
Venerable and Crisistomo were named MVP in the Male and Female categories, respectively, while Philippines head coach Rani Ann Ortega was awarded as the Best Coach.
